So, should you fire your IT team? Is that the next step?

Sure, if chaos is the goal! Changing the relationship between the IT team and the other departments will only allow everyone to focus more on what's important to them.

We already know the IT team didn't have time to handle all the requests from other departments. So, rather than losing significance, they're actually gaining more of it, and I'll show you how in a bit.

You probably understand the new relationship between your teams now, but let's discuss it in more detail.

  1. The Role of Your Non-Technical Teams

These are your teams outside of IT and engineering—marketing, HR, sales, finance, legal, operations, executives, and more.

These teams are the practical components of your AI transformation. Everyone is busy transforming their expertise into something magical. But let's be real—they're not so technical that they can do all the magic by themselves. So, we need to set the right expectations.

For these teams to succeed with AI automation, they need:

  • A very easy foundational no-code tool to create automations.

  • Inspiration on what they can build using this tool.

  • Templates to start from instead of building everything from scratch.

  • Support from the IT team to fill in gaps when something is missing or not working.

Without these considerations, your initiative might be set up for failure. You can't just throw non-technical teams into the messy world of technology; you need to guide them and be there for them.

  1. The Role of Your IT Team

This is your core team. They make the technology available to everyone else and ensure it's managed and secured.

The IT team needs the right tools that are secure, extensible, and deployable across non-technical employees. Once the right tool is found (and we definitely recommend our tool, Activepieces, for this), the IT team will need to:

  • Deploy the tool on their infrastructure or use a cloud service.

  • Implement necessary security measures to protect the organization.

  • Manage connectors and tools that employees need to access.

  • Monitor the tool's usage for performance and security.

  • Generate reports to show the impact to management.

With these roles clearly defined, your teams will work in harmony, growing a culture of collaboration and productivity. This alignment is the recipe to turn your organization into an AI powerhouse.
